I have extended my vocabulary list on the bck of my transitional words packet with all the words we have learned in class that I am unfamiliar with. I have also continued to ask my Spanish speaking friends to converse with me in Spanish and to teach me slang. To add on I have decided to make flashcards of the most useful transition words to me so I can remember them for my midterm in your class.

Activity Log 11/25
For a good 60 minutes, I convinced my Cuban friend to speak to me in Spanish while we were waiting for her ride to come pick her up after school. Most of our conversations consists of details involving KPOP so my statements were in the area of, "Yo prefería canción de EXO sobre la canción de Got7" , which caused her to hit me and say something very fast in Spanish which I couldn't quite catch. She's a very big fan of Got7 pero ellos son muy problematico.
I decided to spend the rest of my time watching episodes of "Maria La Del Barrio" in order to catch up from where I left off. Still hate Soraya!!!!11
Activity Log 12/2
I decided to branch my discovery of songs in Spanish that I enjoy so I decided to go back to youtube and search. Here are my favorites from this week:
- Well instead of music for one part I watched a video by the channel MyKoreanHusband about how they learned some Spanish through Kpop by trying to translate the korean lyrics into Spanish ones.
- I basically really enjoy Leroy Sanchez's spabish cover of "Sorry" by Justin Beiber.
- His cover of "Perfect" by One Direction is also muy bueno. :-) lol lol

Activity Log 10/28
This week I watched even more Maria la del Barrio since I was behind on my episodes. Another thing I did was change the English translations on a K-drama I have seen before (Pinnochio) to Spanish to see if I would still be able to understand the plot of the story even though it was in a different language than English and Korean. It worked out pretty well to where I knew enough words to understand the story line but some words I was confused on so I looked those up myself.
Activity Log 10/21
Over the break, I went to Texas for a college visit. We went to one Mexican restaurant and instead of speaking in English, my mom forced me to speak in Spanish so that is what I did. In my hotel room, I finished watching a few more episodes of Maris la del Barrio since I was extremely behind. :------).
Another thing I did was watch a little bit of "Tres metros sobre el cielo" since my Cuban friend recommended it to me.

10/20 Calentamiento
Over the course of Quarter 1, I learned more words in Spanish that I was not used to before I started the class. I also learned essential conversational phrases that make my Spanish come off as more natural rather than straight out of a textbook. In Quarter 2, I hope to learn even more conversational skills and gain the ability to speak on the spot at a high level.

Activity Log 9/30
This week in class we watched a movie called "The Latino List" on Netflix. We only saw a fraction of these influential Latinos and Latina speaking about their lives but I took it upon myslef to watch the rest on Netflix. One of my most favorite parts was the Pitpull part because ,one, I did not know is real name ,and two, it was so interesting to see him without his signature glasses. Another activity we did in class was watch a music video in Spanish that consisted of fast rapping in Spanish, which was very impressive because I can barely SPEAK in English.

I decided to branch my discovery of songs in Spanish that I enjoy so I decided to go bakc to spotify and search. Here are my favorites from this week:
- I do enjoy the Spanish version of Shakira's "Loca" way more than the English version. "
- Gasoline" by Daddy Yankee has always been a fave ever since I watched that one Bring It On movie. lol
- "Sola" by Becky G is a bop and I am happy to have found it.
- "Cheap Thrills" Remix by Sia and Nicky Jam is equally as good as the origingl with the introduction of very very minimal English other than the chorus.

Activity Log 9/2 and 9/9
These Activity Logs are very late so to make up for the 75 minutes missed I decided to spend 150 minutes instead.
I decided to spend the rest of my time watching episodes 4-7 of "Maria La Del Barrio" in order to catch up from where I left off. I really really really do not like Soraya!!!

Connection between Two Articles
In class we read two articles. One was about what adolescents do for fun and how the internet has impcted their form of socialization. The second article boldly states that a lack of social relationships is as unhealthy as an addiction to drugs or alcohol. These both connect to each other because without these kids having bonds of relationships (although not many but few) it could greatly impact their health.
Some details mentioned in the 1st articles were that kids played sports, watched television, and talked on the computer. The 2nd articel mostly mentioned statistics of what can happen when a person has no friends. For example, one with lots of social interaction will have less of a chance from dying of cancer than one with no social groups.

Proficiency Level
Currently, I think I am currently at I1 or I2 because I can link some simple sentences and ask simple sentences, but I am not at the level of asking a variety of questions on the spot. To help me be able to achieve my goal of I3 or higher, I can start having more frequent conversations in Spanish that consist of answering and asking questions that are at a more challenging level of what I can do now.

Articles from Class
Today, I read two articles posted on the Spanish version of Cosmopolitan's website. The two articles I read were "How To Camoflauge Dark Circles with Red Lipstick" and "20 Excuses We Have to Buy More Clothes".
The first article was about how to hide hider pis dark circles. It mentions how professional makeup artists use this technique all the time for even the worst cases of bags. One should keep in mind of the primary and secondary color wheel. For example, of one's eye bags are purple in tint, they should use a product with a yellowish tint in formula. Also, if someone's dark circles are on the blue side, they should use a orange formula. (Side Note: One should also use a tint that cordinates with their skin tone: reds for deep skin, orange for medium to tan skin, and peaches for lighter skin). The directions/steps said to apply with a sponge and blend carefully with a brush. Then, you spread it evenly. Apply foundation/bb cream/cc cream over the base area, and add powder so it lasts a long time. Lastly, apply makeup as usual!
The second article was about the many ways we make excuses for excessive shopping. The excuses ranged from "it is fashionable" to "I can always return it". We all know you'll never return it. My personal favorite is number 10, "I need something new because I have a wedding/job interview/birthday" (choose what applies). I personally do ten to buy new clothes for every new occasion I end up going to.

Activity Log 8/22-8/26
~
This week I decided to venture off into the world of TELENOVELAS. I recently started "Maria la Del Barrio." It is about a poor girl who has been welcomed into a rich family, falling inlove with the youngest son. I've only had the chance to watch episodes 1 and 2 so far but I do enjoy the sort of "exaggerated" acting and stuff.
I also have been listening to Spanish Versions of songs I like, both KPOP and regular English music. I have compiled a list of my top 10 favorite covers this week.
TOP TEN SPANISH COVERS OF SONGS I ENJOY
- "Miracles in December" by EXO (covered by: Kevin Karla & La Banda)
- "Missing You" by 2NE1 (covered by: Kevin Karla & La Banda)
- "Pity Party" by Melanie Martinez (covered by: Kevin Karla & La Banda)
- "Pour Up" by DEAN (covered by: SALV)
- "Save Me" by BTS (covered by: Kairo Mouse)

First Activity Log
I legitimately spent over 40 minutes listening to all the songs on the Latino Playlist on Spotify. I didn't look at the English Lyrics of course.

My favorite Spanish song at the moment that I have been listening to for a while is the Spanish version of Shakira's "Loca."
After listening to the various playlist, I realized that there are many genre's within this one title of music, like other coutries' music as well.
I did spend another 35 minutes watching KPOP (Korean Pop) artists cover many songs when there was a large concert in Mexico. aMy favorite song that wasn't on the playlist was "Sabor A Mi" by Luis Miguel.I highly recommend the cover of this song by the group EXO when they performed in Mexico! Another fave is Beast's Yoseob, Infinite's Sungkyu, and BAP's Youngjae cover of
Corre! I 10 out of 10 recommend watching all the performances from this concert.
